Download Ayyappa Telugu Songs Lyrics PDF. Ayyappa is an Indian Hindu deity worshiped predominantly in southern India (mostly Kerala). He's also called Sasta, Hariharaputra, and Mahadeva. The legends and stories of Ayyappa are part of the Hindu epic Mahabharatha. The songs of this deity were composed by the famed Tamil poet Bhakthi-Sambandar, who has been mentioned in various ancient Tamil texts such as Thiruvilayadal Puranam. The first version of the song was sung by the noted Vaishnavite saint, Ramanuja and was titled as Ayyappa Sruitsavam. The next version was composed by Swami Haridas and sang by the Indian musician Harikesa Alkottai Natesa Iyer (1873-1951). The above versions of this song were sung during the festive days of Ayyappan such as on his 'Ayyanar Chaturthi' Day. There are different versions of this song in various Indian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The Telugu version of this song is very ancient and was originally composed by Srinatha, the noted Telugu poet in the 17th century. There are many versions of this song for different ragas. However, the most famous among them is the Kalyana Kaveri version which was originally composed in a mixture of 'Madhyama sanchari raga' and 'Arabhi' raga by renowned Tyagaraja who is also considered as a saint in Carnatic music. This song was later on sung by his disciples such as Muthuswami Dikshitar and Shyama Shastri. In fact, there are many versions of this song both in Telugu and Sanskrit languages. There are many more than 20 songs sung by Tyagaraja and most of them are based on this legendary tale about the love between Lord Ayyappa and his devotee. The song was later adapted to Telugu cinema along with 'Kalyana Kaveri' and became the popular "Ayyappa Sthala Vriksha" or 'Ayyappa Homecoming'. This movie had been commercially very successful.
